Job summary

H&R Block in Wasilla, AK is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to join our local tax office in person. You’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building tax knowledge and client relationships.

No prior tax experience is required; training and support start day one. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate, with opportunities to increase earnings as you grow in the role and seasonality peaks.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• Availability to work 15–35 hours per week, with up to 40 hours during peak periods

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
