Job summary

H&R Block in California is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office. You’ll meet with clients to gather information, prepare returns, and answer tax questions with training and support from teammates.

No prior tax experience is required; compensation is hourly and growth opportunities exist as you build tax knowledge during peak season. Availability to work evenings and weekends is helpful.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers in a service environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools including Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations to clients
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and client-first approach
