Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate for an in-person role at a local tax office in California. You’ll meet with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building client relationships.

No prior tax experience required, with training and support from day one. You’ll earn an hourly rate with potential to increase earnings as you gain tax knowledge and grow in the role, and you’ll work as part of a team to support office priorities during tax

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent tax training.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in an easily understood way.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions with guidance.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and a client-first approach.
