Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate in California to work in-person at a local tax office. You’ll meet with clients, gather information, and prepare tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.

No prior tax experience is required; you’ll learn on day one and earn a competitive hourly rate while building valuable client service skills and tax knowledge during peak season. Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
