Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Advisor to prepare complete tax returns, interview clients to understand finances, and identify savings opportunities with guidance from our training and technology. This in-person role offers an hourly rate and an incentive plan while you build your tax expertise.

You will collaborate with teammates in a client-focused office, provide IRS notice support, and help clients navigate complex tax rules while delivering clear, personalized recommendations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations, including individuals and businesses.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying savings opportunities and H&R Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
