Job summary

The State of Vermont is seeking Doorkeepers for the Vermont General Assembly in Montpelier. This hourly, seasonal role protects the State House and supports orderly access during sessions. In-person work is required January–May 2027, with up to 40 hours per week and possible part-time morning or afternoon shifts.

A pre-employment background check is required, and benefits are not included. Candidates should be able to stand for long periods, ambulate stairs in emergencies, and demonstrate

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of college coursework or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of related work experience.
• Associate’s degree, or related working experience in the legislature.
• 5+ years of teaching experience or certified law enforcement experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and safety in the State House during sessions.
• Work up to 40 hours per week; possible part-time morning or afternoon shifts.
