Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking temporary Snow Removal Operators for the 2026/2027 Snow and Ice Season. The Snow Removal Operators perform a range of tasks including operation of CDL-licensed vehicles, emergency snow and ice response, and maintenance of equipment and grounds.

The role is temporary, on-call with no guaranteed hours, and requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions. Training and safety requirements are outlined in the posting.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
• Seasonal employees must have a Class B CDL with endorsements; after year three, Class A CDL with endorsements is required.
• Requires one year of driving experience immediately preceding appointment with clean record.

Responsabilités

• Operate CDL Class A or B licensed vehicles for snow removal and maintenance.
• Assist in emergency snow and ice control.
• Service and perform minor repairs on equipment (trucks, snowplows, salt spreaders, etc.).
• Perform routine grounds maintenance and assist with general duties as assigned.
• Be on-call and respond to emergencies and weather events as needed.
