Job summary

Vail Resorts is hiring for the 2026/27 winter season for positions including alpine coaches, instructors, drivers, and cooks. The team offers one of the highest compensation rates in the industry with free employee ski passes, lessons, and 40% retail discounts.

Roles are winter seasonal with opportunities for growth, training, and wellness benefits. Positions include full-time and part-time hours, with minimum age 18 and housing not provided.

Qualifications

• PSIA/AASI Level 3 and/or USSS/FIS Level 300 certification required.
• High School or equivalent education required.
• English language proficiency required for all duties.

Responsibilities

• Uphold guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude and winter conditions.
• Instruct skiing to students, both physically and verbally.
• Match athletes to skill levels and adapt as needed with supervisors.
• Assist guests loading and unloading the chairlift.
• Communicate instructions clearly during training and competitions.
• Supervise athletes and return them to guardians as needed.
• Support registration, equipment fitting, outdoor training areas, and facility upkeep.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Alpine/Freestyle/Snowboard Competition coaches work to provide quality ski/ride instruction and coaching of athlete development to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines. We are an in-house team, with foundation support and tremendous growth opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Upholding the highest levels of guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude, with varying
• winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verbally.
• Ensuring that athletes are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with supervisors/managers to
• make appropriate changes when necessary.
• Assisting guests to load and unload the chairlift.
• Clearly communicating instructions and assisting athletes during training sessions and at competitions; lifting
• children by the vest (if applicable).
• Supervising athletes in training at all times; ensuring return of athletes to identified guardian.
• Assisting in operational responsibilities of competition service and related SRS programs including but not
• limited to registration process, directing athletes to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor
• Training areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• PSIA/AASI Level 3 and/or USSS./FIS Level 300 certification
• High School or Equivalent Education
• Attend Ski and Ride training sessions
• Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
• Must have excellent guest service skills
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must work well in a team
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment
• Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
• Must be available to work holidays and weekends
• Must be able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
• Experience coaching experience of winter sports athletes of all ages
• Previous ski/snowboard coaching experience
• Knowledge of local area/resort

The expected pay range is$23.00/hr - $26.88/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
