Job summary

Living Classrooms Foundation Inc. seeks a Mate/Educator for the educational vessel Lady Maryland. The role supports the Captain, acts as second in command, and contributes to onboard education programs and vessel operations.

Position is seasonal full-time, with daysail schedules, six trips per week, and compensation including potential Comp Pay for extra trips. Housing and meals may be provided; strong safety and teaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience aboard sailing vessels preferred.
• Experience working with students in non-traditional settings preferred.
• Excellent communications and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support staff for the Captain of the S/V Lady Maryland.
• Perform routine maintenance as directed by the Captain.
• Assist in onboard and land-based education program delivery.
• Provisioning and supporting ship’s crew in port and at sea.
• Maintain passenger comfort and safety; ensure ship rules are followed.
• Learn vessel systems and assist in basic repairs as needed.
