Job summary

Living Classrooms Foundation is seeking an Educator/Deckhand to support Maritime Education programs, including day trips on vessels and land/sea activities. You will help run on-water programs aboard Lady Maryland, Sigsbee, or Mildred Belle, ensuring safety and engaging learning experiences for students.

The role requires high energy, flexibility, and a strong work ethic, plus ability to assist with ship operations and vessel maintenance. Housing and meals are provided during the season.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Passion for nature and working with children in informal settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise safe educational programs with onboard staff.
• Assist with ship operations including line/sail handling, navigation, and helm.
• Maintain equipment and education supplies to ensure readiness.
• Welcome teachers and encourage participation in programs.
• Maintain professionalism as a representative of the Living Classrooms Foundation.
