Job summary

Summit Seed Coatings in Caldwell, ID, is seeking a Seasonal Plant Production Employee to join our production team for the September 21 – April 30 period. This full-time, temporary role typically runs about 40+ hours per week with potential overtime based on production needs.

Responsibilities include operating production equipment, material handling, packaging, and maintaining accurate records to support safe, efficient manufacturing and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in production, manufacturing, or warehouse operations preferred; seed or agricultural industry experience a plus.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, SOPs, and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work safely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience with production or inventory systems is a plus.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment safely and effectively, following SOPs and work instructions.
• Assist with raw material preparation, measuring, and handling to support production needs.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; training will be provided to ensure safe operation.
• Use the sewing machine to securely close bags of seed for packaging.
• Perform packaging operator duties, including bagging, labeling, and preparing finished products for shipment.
• Operate the treater and PVOH mixer according to instructions and safety protocols, ensuring consistent product quality.
• Monitor production processes and report any quality, safety, or workflow issues to the Production Supervisor or Line Lead.
• Conduct day-to-day preventive maintenance on equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments, to ensure proper operation.
• Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, materials used, and any deviations from standard procedures.
• Support inventory tracking and movement of raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
• Participate in cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation of production areas and equipment to meet quality and safety standards.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and workflow.
• Provide support for other production roles as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
