Job summary

Pacific Seafood in Charleston, Oregon, is seeking a Seasonal Seafood Processor - Local to join the Bandon Shrimp team. This full-time seasonal position offers $17.00 per hour and requires commuting distance to Charleston for all shifts.

You will help process various seafood species, maintain production pace, and uphold safety and quality standards. Prior processing experience is preferred, but training may be provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and recognize simple words and numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to follow detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model in applying Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy: Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork.
• Inspect and grade product.
• Walk to picking tables and collect tips.
• Place product in containers or on conveyers.
• Run tips through tip machine and collect the meat.
• Weigh and clean product.
• Sanitize work area and equipment.
• Place product in proper packaging as instructed.
• Assist with workspace, plant clean-up and upkeep.
• Adhere to sanitation and product quality policies.
• Communicate quality issues to supervisors and leads.
• Maintain plant safety at all times.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Summary: To properly process various species of seafood, ensuring maximum use and yield of product. Consistently maintain a high production pace in all areas of production.

This position does not offer housing. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of Charleston, Oregon for all scheduled shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include but not limited to:

What you bring to Pacific Seafood

Required:

• None

Preferred:

• Prior experience with food processing equipment
• Prior food safety experience
• Prior experience in a processing environment

Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required:

• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
