Job summary

Pacific Seafood is hiring an Oyster Piece Rate Worker in South Bend. This full-time role supports production tasks such as shucking, bagging, and packing, with a focus on quality and safety in a fast-paced facility.

Starting wage is $17.50 per hour, with an average potential of $17.50–$28.00 per hour based on performance. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered and positions may be full-time, part-time, or seasonal.

Qualifications

• Experience with food processing equipment, sanitation, and food safety.
• Preferred: experience safely operating forklifts and powered pallet jacks; RF handheld scanners and quality control.

The starting rate is $17.50 per hour. As a piece-rate position, employees have the opportunity to earn an average of $17.50-$28.00 per hour based on performance.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE AVAILABLE: FULL TIME, PART TIME, AND SEASONAL

A Production Worker (Shucking, Topshell, Bagging, Breaking and Cultch Bags) at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Production team supporting efforts to complete production tasks while maintaining a high performance in all areas. This position involves inspecting products for proper quality, grade, and size while maintaining a safe and clean work environment and is ideal for someone who is meticulous, independent, and works well in a team.

You will perform production tasks while maintaining a high production pace in all areas of production. THESE ARE PIECE RATE POSITIONS.

Key Responsibilities

• Pack product.
• Break oyster clusters and shuck oyster shells.

• Proper methods in all production areas.
• Maintain proper par levels as instructed.
• Communicate supply material levels.
• Maintain plant safety.
• Maintain and proper use of production equipment.
• Keep work area clean at all times.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Provide backup support for other duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring to Pacific Seafood

Education and Experience

• Required
  • Experience with food processing equipment, sanitation, and food safety
• Preferred
  • Experience safely operating forklifts and powered pallet jacks
  • Experience with radio frequency handheld scanners and quality control
