Job summary

Xanterra Travel Collection's Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel seeks a Safety Officer to protect guests and staff across the property while delivering exceptional guest service. This seasonal, 40-hour-per-week role shifts 3:00pm–11:00pm through 12/31/2026, paying $17.85 per hour, with benefits and employee perks at Grand Canyon Railway properties.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
• Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Must be 19 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of Grand Canyon Railway properties by conducting regular inspections.
• Support other departments who may have safety needs.
• Coordinate pre-employment testing and escort to clinic, and perform screenings for substances.
• Maintain awareness of fire notification and evacuation plans and fire-extinguishing equipment.
• Keep abreast of emergency medical notification procedures.
• Maintain professional relationships with local law enforcement and designated officials.
• Handle medical, fire, security and safety situations calmly and professionally.
• Interact with guests and staff in a non-confrontational manner while prioritizing guest service.
• Communicate professionally via handheld radio and follow radio procedures.
• Investigate guest or employee complaints or incidents.
• Prepare written reports with times, dates, names, and descriptions of incidents.
• Maintain open lines of communication with supervisor and Risk Director.
• Provide shuttle service to guests and employees across Grand Canyon Railway properties.
• Adhere to safety, Risk Management, and environmental policies.
• Attend ongoing training classes as determined by the Risk Director.
• Work productively with minimal supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
