Job summary

Fayette County Administration seeks a seasonal maintenance worker to perform labor-intensive tasks for roadways. Daily operation of a weed eater and related equipment is required, with training provided for tractors, mowers, bush hogs, and chainsaw use.

Responsibilities include operating a county crew cab truck, setting up work zones, flagging traffic, and securing equipment for transport. No prior experience is necessary; valid GA Class C license is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Possession of a valid Class C driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.
• No prior work experience required for this seasonal role.

• Daily operation of weed eater as part of the road maintenance crew (seasonal).
• Operate a Crew Cab truck as part of county crews.
• Learn to operate grass tractor, zero-turn mower, bush hog and weed eater to maintain roadside grass.
• Learn how to properly use a chainsaw.
• Set up safe work-zone devices and flag traffic as needed.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.

Job description

This is a seasonal position without benefits. This position will perform daily labor-intensive tasks for the maintenance of county roadways which includes daily operation of a weed eater.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

Right-of-Way Maintenance Operations

1. Daily operation of weed eater as part of the Department's right-of-way mowing crew
2. Operation of a Crew Cab truck
3. Learn to operate a grass tractor, zero-turn mower, bush hog and weed eater to maintain the grass alongside the roads in the County.
4. Learn how to properly use a chainsaw

General Operations

1. Knowledge of the principles and practices of road construction, repair, and maintenance
2. Learn how to properly set-up safe work-zone devices and flag traffic
3. Learn how to tie-down construction equipment for safe transportation
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Possession of a valid Class C driver's license issued by the State of Georgia;
• No experience requirements.
