Job summary

AllSpice, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Retail Sales Associate to join the East Village team in Des Moines, IA, for the November–December holiday rush. You’ll assist customers, process transactions, stock shelves, and maintain a clean store environment.

Weekend availability is required, with extended Friday hours during peak season. You will interact with customers in person and by phone, guide them to products, and help with returns and exchanges.

Qualifications

• Strong communication with customers from diverse backgrounds.
• Basic computer skills; Apple experience preferred.
• Basic math skills for everyday transactions.
• Interest in cooking is a plus.
• Good time management and the ability to multitask.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.

Responsibilities

About the Retail Sales Associate position

AllSpice is looking for a Seasonal Retail Sales Associate to join the East Village team in November and December for the holiday rush. Responsibilities include answering customer questions, helping customers find the products they are looking for, checking customers out, stocking shelves, and light cleaning.

Our hours are Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Extended hours until 9 p.m. begin on Fridays the week before the Thanksgiving Holiday through the week before Christmas. Applicants must have weekend availability.

Retail Sales Associates (a.k.a. AllSpicers) are the AllSpice experience.

• Interact with customers in person and over the phone, answering basic questions and guiding them to product locations on the sales floor
• Manage transactions with customers using computer-based point of sale software
• Cross-sell products and introduce customers to new ones
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas and sales floor
• Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies
• Bag packages box or gift-wrap packages
• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges
• Check in products and stock shelves

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with customers from a variety of backgrounds
