Job summary

Francis O Day Co., Inc., a leading paving and excavation company operating in Maryland and Virginia, is seeking experienced Pipe Layers to join our team. This hourly skilled craft role involves assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains, with attention to safety and project plans.

Responsibilities include laying out routes, cutting pipes, ensuring proper slopes, and training others in pipe-laying techniques.

Qualifications

• Must understand work directions and communicate with supervisors.
• Valid United States Driver's License.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• 2 years of experience in water, sewer, storm drain or sediment control is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install water, sewer, drain structures and associated pipe.
• Layout pipe routes per specs or blueprints and coordinate layouts.
• Cut pipes to required lengths and align during construction.
• Check slopes and ensure proper depth using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints.
• Grade trench bases and train others in pipe-laying techniques.
• Follow trench safety requirements and use of protective systems.
