Job summary

Francis O Day Co., Inc. is seeking experienced Pipe Layers for outdoor construction in Northern Maryland and Northern Virginia.

This hourly, seasonal full-time role involves assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains according to plans and safety standards. The candidate will lay out routes, cut and align pipes, and assist in trench grading.

Qualifications

• Must understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
• 2 years of experience preferred with water, sewer, storm drain, and sediment control installation.
• Valid United States Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Install water, sewer, drain structures and associated pipe.
• Layout pipe routes following specifications or blueprints and coordinate with field layout.
• Cut pipes to required lengths and align pipes during construction.
• Check slopes for conformance using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints and tap holes as needed.
• Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
