Job description

Job Description

We are looking for Seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers to join our team in the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of City parks and trails. The Parks Maintenance crew provides care for the City’s parks, open space, trails, and related facilities. The City emphasizes safety in the workplace. The pay rate for this position is $18.50 - $20.50 per hour. City Public Works operations are located at 2101 W Quincy Ave, Englewood. The Parks Division works Tuesday - Friday. Flexible hours may be available depending on the situation.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain grounds and turf in all parks, trails, street right of ways, and City facilities by mowing, line trimming, weeding, and grooming.
  • Maintain designated landscape features through pruning, mowing, and debris removal.
  • Plant trees, shrubs, and other plants as required and maintain existing landscaped areas.
  • Maintain parks and other facilities by collecting and disposing of debris, cleaning, and hauling garbage, along with other upkeep and repairs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Satisfactory driving record required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Basic knowledge of general work hazards, safety procedures, and public safety matters.
  • Ability to tolerate various weather conditions, which may include wet, humid, snowy, sunny, very hot, or very cold conditions, depending on the start and end dates.
