Job summary

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a Fall/Winter Program Seasonal Naturalist Assistant at the North Chagrin Nature Center in Mayfield Village, Ohio. The role involves supporting staff with educational and recreation programs, gardening, hosting, and office tasks in a short-term capacity designed for skill development.

Work is seasonal with a variable schedule, evenings/weekends/holidays, and the position pays $16.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least a high school junior.
• Must have a valid driver’s license under the laws of the State of Ohio.
• Must obtain and maintain a current first aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences in outdoor education or recreation.
• Basic knowledge of natural and/or cultural history of the region.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both one-on-one and in groups.

Responsibilities

• Supports educational and recreation programs at North Chagrin Nature Center.
• Assists with gardening, hosting, office work, cleaning, and other duties.
• Provides outdoor recreation and environmental education programs.
• Participates in special events or projects as assigned.
• Demonstrates organization, communication, problem-solving, and conflict management.
• Drives Park District vehicles to transport equipment.
• Maintains and preps equipment and program materials.
• Performs light maintenance functions.
