Job summary

RI Council 94 seeks a Seasonal Reactor Operator Trainee to assist with the operation and maintenance of the RI Atomic Energy Commission Research Nuclear Reactor. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Senior Reactor Operator to ensure safe startup, operation, and shutdown procedures.

Candidates should have knowledge of basic reactor physics and nuclear engineering, with Reactor Operator License training and, ideally, prior volunteering at the RI Nuclear Science Center.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of elementary reactor physics and nuclear engineering.
• Ability to make immediate decisions during reactor operation.

Responsibilities

• Performs reactor pre-startup checkouts, startups, shutdown, and post shutdown checkouts.
• Performs a wide variety of reactor and facility maintenance.
• Performs related work as required.
