Job summary

Ted Turner Reserves at Vermejo seeks an enthusiastic Activities Guide for the Spring 2027 season. You will lead hiking, wildlife and history tours, mountain biking, and other outdoor experiences, sharing knowledge about the Reserve's landscapes, wildlife, and conservation efforts while prioritizing guest safety and exceptional hospitality.

Qualifications

• Experience in outdoor recreation, guiding, or guest-facing roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for guests.
• Interest in wildlife, nature, and environmental stewardship.
• Ability to lead or support outdoor activities with sound judgment.
• Willingness to train, obtain certifications, and learn new activities.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Identity and employment eligibility documentation required within three days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead guided outdoor activities such as hiking, wildlife/history tours, mountain biking, and shooting sports where qualified.
• Assist with fishing activities and other departmental projects as assigned.
• Welcome guests, provide activity information, and assist with planning self-guided experiences.
• Conduct activity orientations and safety briefings for guests.
• Prepare, inspect, and maintain guest service vehicles and equipment.
• Monitor guest safety and adapt experiences to skill levels and conditions.
• Share knowledge about Vermejo's wildlife, resources, and conservation efforts.
• Participate in ongoing training and cross-training to expand guiding capabilities.
• Assist with training Activities Attendants and seasonal team members as directed.
• Maintain high standards of guest service, first aid readiness, sanitation, and hygiene.
