Job summary

Colville, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic for Prudhoe Bay to maintain and repair light and heavy‑duty vehicles in Alaska’s North Slope. This on‑site, full‑time role offers progression through mechanic levels with safety as a core value and a rotational schedule to balance workload and time off.

You will diagnose, service, and repair equipment, perform DOT inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and DOT regulations while contributing to team efficiency and equipment uptime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Diesel and/or heavy-duty equipment mechanic experience or training.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean record.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• NSTC or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, spill response, and storage guidelines.
• Ability to work long hours in extreme arctic weather conditions.
• Must be able to take commercial flights from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay.
• Must be able to work 12+ hour days on a rotational schedule.
• 7-year criminal background check.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Pre-hire drug test and continued adherence to Colville's Non-DOT Drug & Alcohol Program (DOT if CDL).
• Pre-hire physical - must be able to climb, pull, bend, kneel, lift, and stoop.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and DOT annual inspections.
• Respond to in-field service calls for damaged equipment.
• Operate welding and cutting tools for repair and fabrication.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve repair processes and reduce downtime.
• Assist with outfitting new fleet equipment and maintaining shop organization.
• Safely operate light trucks, forklifts, and small tools.
• Handle chemicals and hazardous materials per company and DOT regulations.
• Lead by example in safety and professionalism, assisting Oilers and Shop Laborers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
