Job description

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is from Mid-May to Mid-October but can vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: Mid-May.

Qualifications

Applicants must be physically fit and, as required by the Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbook X-118C, must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below to perform the duties of the position at the level for which they are applying. Many of the duties listed above provide examples. A specific length of time and experience are not required; emphasis is on the quality of experience, not duration. You must meet the 2-point level on the screen out factor/element and an average of level 2 on all factors/elements listed.

To qualify, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Use of Measuring Equipment
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (including blueprint reading)
  • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Materials

If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor are not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Volunteer Experience: Includes paid and unpaid experience, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or other organizations. Volunteer work helps build competencies, knowledge, and skills and can translate directly to paid employment. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.

ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and displaced Federal employees with priority under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified. 'Well qualified' means meeting OPM standards, all selective placement factors, applicable special conditions, being physically qualified with reasonable accommodations, and rated at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
