SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

SALARY: $17.00 hourly (end-of-season incentive pay, plus rehires get a .25 increase each year)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Riverton City is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers in the Parks, Water, and Streets divisions in the Public Works Department. Flexible schedules could be 20 hours a week for up to 12 months or 40 hours a week for up to 5.5 months. Will work a schedule around school classes. These positions perform maintenance pertaining to City parks, park strips, the cemetery, recreation facilities, and City properties. This position is non-benefited.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Routine maintenance and cleaning of park facilities
• Routine cleaning of park restrooms
• Repair and maintenance of equipment
• Seasonal repairs and maintenance of irrigation systems
• Seasonal snow plowing and snow shoveling
• Seasonal weed abatement on city properties
• Seasonal assistants with water flushing
• Any other responsibilities that would be required to maintain effective operations of the department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
• Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License with a good driving record
• Must be at least 18 years of age

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees
• Ability to perform manual labor
• Ability and willingness to work outside in various environmental exposures

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test, a background screen, provide a current copy of their driving record, pass a Human Performance Evaluation (HPE) able to lift up to 50 lbs., and complete form I-9 employment eligibility verification.
