City of Kinston is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform manual labor such as cleaning, sweeping, cutting, weeding and digging across City areas. You may learn to operate equipment and assist in maintaining vehicles, facilities, and grounds.
Applicants should be able to work outdoors in varied weather, be willing to collaborate with others, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and possess or obtain a valid North Carolina driver's license. Must be 18 or older.
Performs manual labor cleaning, sweeping, cutting, weeding, and/or digging at multiple areas throughout the City of Kinston. Must be able to use or learn to use equipment needed to do maintenance work. Work could include parks and facilities. Reports to Crew Leader in department.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. streets, parks).
