Job summary

Brooklyn Botanic Garden seeks a Seasonal Lightscape Venue Manager to oversee day-to-day operations during the annual winter Lightscape. This lead role coordinates with the Public Programs team, security, and venue operations to ensure a seamless show for visitors, volunteers, and staff.

The position requires managing load-in, technical setup, and on-site supervision evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and guest experience during a one-mile outdoor trail.

Qualifications

• Production or event management experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple responsibilities.
• Comfort communicating with the public, BBG members, vendors, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee load-in and tech setup; lead liaison between load-in, tech crew, and BBG operations.
• Coordinate with Security, Custodial, Visitor Services, Maintenance, retail, and F&B for evening Lightscape operations.
• Work with event manager to ensure route is safe and address needs before and during events.
• Coordinate needs for ancillary events (Friends and Family, Press Opening, Family Benefit Night, 21+ Night, Sensory Friendly Entry).
• Attend daily event briefings and assist front-of-house operations as needed.
• Respond to public needs and produce end-of-day reports for the next day.
• Return the Garden to daily operations setup each night.
• Perform related duties or special projects as directed.
