Job summary

The City of Iowa City is seeking seasonal help in Streets & Traffic Engineering Division / Public Works Department. The role offers up to 25 hours per week at $15.00 per hour, limited to a 5-month duration during the September–December season.

Start and end dates are negotiable within the season; CDL holders may earn an additional $0.50/hour. Primary duties include leaf removal, equipment cleaning, and light maintenance under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and able to perform heavy outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record; CDL preferred.
• Pre-employment drug screen required for CDL holders (FMCSA Clearinghouse).
• A CDL with satisfactory driving record is preferred for CDL holders.

Responsibilities

• Leaf removal for curbside pickup under immediate supervision.
• Cleans equipment, building and grounds; operates light motorized equipment as needed.
• Performs additional unskilled manual labor tasks and general street maintenance.
• Performs other related duties as required.
