City of Iowa City, in Iowa City, IA, is seeking a permanent full-time driver for the Streets & Traffic Engineering Division to maintain, construct, and repair city streets, sidewalks, catch basins and storm drains, and to remove snow and leaves from roadways.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 4–6 months of related experience, plus a valid Iowa CDL Class A with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months.

Qualificações

• High school education or GED and 4–6 months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in street construction and maintenance or related.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Valid State of Iowa commercial driver’s license instruction permit upon first day in position.
• Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire.
• Meet federal drug testing requirements.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.

Salary Range: $48,817.60 – $62,857.60 (starting wage contingent upon experience)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm

Entry-level Driver Training (ELDT) for employees who need to obtain a required Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is provided by the City. Employees are provided paid time to complete ELDT and to take required CDL tests.
