Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Lab Technician for a part-time, on-site role. The position focuses on preparing samples with accuracy, following SGS SOPs, under supervision, to meet daily production targets in a safe laboratory environment.

The role requires a high school diploma and up to 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience; training will be provided. You will work as part of a team and perform routine instrument calibration and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or related hands-on lab work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis following SGS SOPs.
  • Perform routine operation, calibration and maintenance of prep instruments/equipment.
  • Input and maintain technical information to support lab operations.
  • Maintain Laboratory Notebook as required.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures.

Job Description Summary

The Seasonal Lab Technician will, with adequate training, prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' SOPs. Work under the direction of a supervisor and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions
  • After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories seed or biological laboratory or prior experience working with one's hands
