Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in Scarborough, ME, is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I to prepare samples with accuracy and follow SGS SOPs. You will work independently or with a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met while maintaining a safe laboratory environment.

The role requires a high school diploma (associates preferred), basic math and English skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. The position is paid hourly at USD 20 - USD 22.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates Degree in Chemistry or similar preferred.
• 1-2 years relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories preferred.
• Language Skills: English required.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic required.
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic required.
• Computer Skills: Basic required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS analytical SOPs using basic department instrumentation.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician to join their team! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

• 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
