Job summary

The Salvation Army Indiana Division is seeking a Seasonal Kettle Driver in Gary/Merrillville for the Red Kettle Campaign season. This part-time role drives an insured Salvation Army vehicle to transport bell ringers and equipment during November through December, serving as an ambassador for the organization.

Responsibilities include loading kettles, coordinating with the Kettle Coordinator, documenting times, and ensuring accurate bell ringing forms.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or preferred
• Background check will be completed for the position
• Minimum 2 years of driving experience, preferably with 12-passenger vans
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard
• Ability to speak, write and understand English well

Responsibilities

• Drive an insured Salvation Army vehicle to transport bell ringers and equipment during the Red Kettle Campaign
• Drip off and pick up bell ringers in a predetermined order within your geographic area
• Assist with placing kettles, documenting times, and ensuring forms are accurate
• Secure kettles, bells, aprons, and equipment; report any broken items
• Coordinate with the Kettle Coordinator to verify data for workers and sites
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and monitor fuel and maintenance needs
• End-of-shift duties include securing daily funds and preparing supplies for the next day
• Travel daily as required during shifts
• Supervise multiple bell ringers and volunteers as assigned
• Ensure safety and proper conduct of bell ringers and workers
