Job summary

Maine State Ferry Service in Rockland, ME seeks an Intermittent Able-Bodied Seafarer to operate on one of our ferry vessels. Duties include handling mooring lines, boarding ticket verification, loading/unloading, cleaning and lifeboat operations, with on-island assignments for vessels serving island routes.

Qualified candidates must hold a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document with AB endorsement, a current TWIC, and be willing to reside on or near islands as required; pre-employment

Qualifications

• Experience as a deck crew member on ocean or coastal routes is required.
• U.S. Coast Guard certificate as Able Seaman and Lifeboatman is required.
• Current TWIC Card is required and must be provided.

Responsibilities

• Handle mooring lines during docking/undocking operations.
• Verify and collect boarding tickets and assist in loading/unloading passengers and vehicles.
• Perform deck cleaning/painting of vessel structures and equipment.
• Participate in safety drills and lifeboat operations; stand helm and lookout watches.
