Job summary

The City of Marquette is seeking a seasonal Parks & Recreation Zamboni Driver to maintain a high-quality ice surface and support arena operations. You will perform custodial tasks, assist with events, and ensure safety and schedule adherence.

Applicants must be 18+, able to work evenings and weekends, and possess a valid Michigan driver’s license. Prior ice rink experience is preferred; the term is seasonal and may last up to six months.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform strenuous work.
• A valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to communicate clearly orally.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and materials used.
• Basic skating ability preferred.
• Previous ice arena and ice resurfacing skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Zamboni, edger or other equipment to maintain a high-quality ice surface.
• Perform custodial and maintenance duties for daily operations and events.
• Ensure ice rental schedules are followed and facility needs are met.
• Report accidents, emergencies, scheduling problems, and maintenance needs to City staff.
• Keep doorways and walkways clear of ice and snow.
• Exercise customer service and professionalism when handling arena rules or complaints.
• Open, maintain, and close facilities for rental events during the winter.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment as required.
