Job summary

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking a casual/seasonal, part-time interpretive programs assistant in Dover. The role focuses on delivering quality guest experiences and conducting interpretive programs, with weekend, evening, and holiday availability required.

Responsibilities include leading school and public programs, developing exhibits, providing park information, and conducting interpretive walks and tours.

Qualifications

• Six months experience working with children and young adults.
• Experience with care and handling of animals.
• Knowledge of natural, cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation.
• Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Lead school and public educational programs tied to State standards to increase awareness and understanding of Delaware’s cultural resources.
• Develop and maintain exhibits, educational and historical site material.
• Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
• Plan, organize and conduct interpretive walks, programs and tours.
• Perform custodial services in historic sites and offices.
• Set-up, monitor and provide support for park programs and special events.
• Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.
