Job summary

DelDOT is seeking a candidate for community engagement and volunteer coordination with the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve. Responsibilities include developing outreach materials, managing social media content, and supervising volunteers. Overview

The Coastal Programs Section of the Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy serves as the Department’s research, education, and policy lead for coastal and ocean issues. It manages Delaware’s federal coastal zone and balances the use and protection of its resources through integrated efforts of the Delaware Coastal Management Program and Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Summary

This position is responsible for community engagement, volunteer coordination and communication for the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR). Duties include community outreach and events, developing print materials, social media content, etc. and volunteer program management. Night and weekend work is required.

Essential Functions
  • May assist with graphic design of printed brochures and program flyers.
  • Assist in the development and posting of materials to the Reserve social media sites.
  • May supervise and manage volunteers.
  • Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and have fun.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One year’s experience in communications, public relations, marketing, customer service or related fields.
  • One year’s experience in supervising groups, staff or volunteers.
  • Six months experience in narrative report writing.
  • Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Additional Posting Information

This posting may be closed on or before the posted closing date upon filling the vacant position(s). This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non‑pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits. All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
