Job summary

Commonwealth of PA, through PennDOT, seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker to support roadway repair and sign maintenance on state highways in the Pittsburgh area. This seasonal full-time role runs from October 2026 through March 2027, with hours 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and no telework option.

You’ll perform outdoor labor, operate roadway tools, and assist the crew on diverse maintenance tasks to keep communities safe.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and to work under adverse weather conditions.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor on maintenance projects along state highways.
• Assist sign crews by erecting and maintaining traffic signs and delineators.
• Prepare work areas, move materials, and support safe job site conditions.
• Operate and carry tools, supplies, and materials used in roadway work.
• Contribute to crew activities and help complete assigned maintenance tasks.
