Job summary

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is hiring seasonal Transportation Operations Technicians to support highway maintenance and winter operations in Middlebury. This hands-on role involves repairing guardrails, patching pavement, ditching, clearing brush, and picking up litter. Seasonal staff also play a critical role in plowing and salting during winter weather events.

Overtime may be required. This temporary position is open to all State employees and external applicants.

Qualifications

• One year of work in construction or related manual labor.
• Ability to operate snowplows with wings or heavy equipment.
• Must obtain CDL/Class A with Tanker Endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Support highway maintenance and winter operations in Middlebury.
• Repair guardrails, patch pavement, ditch, and clear brush.
• Plow and salt during winter weather; perform litter pickup.
