Job summary

Lakes District Maintenance is seeking an Auxiliary Highway Maintenance Worker & Machine Operator to operate heavy trucks and road maintenance equipment in British Columbia. This seasonal/FT role reports to the Area Foreman for Jade City and emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability.

Responsibilities include road surface maintenance, snow/ice control, equipment inspection, and documentation. A valid BC Class 3 with air brake endorsement is required, plus 2+ years in highway maintenance; grader

Qualifications

• Valid BC Class 3 with air brake endorsement or higher with a clean Driver’s Abstract (≤6 demerits, no major infractions).
• 2+ years’ highway maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience operating graders is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations.
• Strong safety knowledge for vehicle and machine operation.
• Mechanical and operational aptitude.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Promote and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Operate equipment and perform road maintenance tasks.
• Inspect, maintain, and report equipment conditions.
• Complete fuel logs, road reports, and safety documents.
• Relate to company standards for highway maintenance activities.
