Job Description

The job of Seasonal Grounds Worker is performed to provide grounds maintenance services at assigned site(s), ensuring attractive and safe grounds areas and athletic fields, performing a variety of grounds maintenance operations, and maintaining grounds.

Reports to Supervisor-Landscape & Support Services (JC655).

Essential Functions

• Applies fertilizer to preserve grounds in a healthy and safe condition.
• Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc., to gather required information.
• Clears landscaped areas and related items (e.g., storm drains, fields, parking lots, litter) to preserve grounds health and safety.
• Loads and unloads equipment, materials, or furniture for moving requests.
• Maintains and makes minor repairs on lawnmowers, tractors, and other equipment to keep tools and equipment safe.
• Maintains and improves landscaping (e.g., mow/trim lawns, rake leaves, pick up trash, plant/prune trees/hedges, weeding) to preserve grounds' health, attractiveness and safety.
• Operates equipment (e.g., trucks, tractors, chippers, edge-saw, blowers, mowers) to maintain District grounds and buildings.
• Plants various landscaping materials (e.g., lawns, shrubbery, flowers) to keep grounds attractive and protect against erosion.
• Requests materials, supplies, equipment, and/or support personnel to complete assignments promptly.
• Transports tools, equipment, supplies to ensure material availability at job sites.

Other Functions

• Performs other related duties as assigned to support efficient and effective work unit function.
