Job summary

Metroparks Toledo is seeking a Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Assistant to help keep our parks clean, safe, and natural. You’ll assist with grounds and facilities tasks at parks visited by thousands each day, supporting the broader Park Services team.

This role involves cleaning restrooms, mowing, pruning, painting signs, trail work, and maintaining equipment. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, on a set monthly schedule, with opportunities to grow into Custodian or Park Technician positions.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Year-Round Park Services Staff by performing maintenance duties, such as cleaning restrooms, picking up litter, trash removal, and event set-up/clean-up.
• Maintaining the park grounds, including painting and staining park features and amenities; completing trail improvements.
• Support broader park services team by performing horticultural duties, such as mowing, weeding, watering, pruning, and planting.
• Control invasive species by applying pesticides and herbicides under supervision of a licensed applicator.
• Safely drive park vehicles with trailers between work assignments on park trails and roadways.
• Respond to customer questions, comments and suggestions in a courteous and timely way.
