Kissaki Water Mill seeks a Chef to create exceptional sushi and Japanese dishes in a seasonal role. Kissaki Water Mill (located in Southampton, NY) is seeking a Chef to prepare and execute sushi and other Japanese dishes, adhering to food, health, safety regulations, and restaurant standards. Our seasonal restaurant operates for 13 weeks between July 4th and Labor Day.
Operations
The Seasonal Chef role is a contract position lasting approximately 14-15 weeks. Core responsibilities include:
Kitchen Management
Responsibilities include hiring, training, managing, coaching, and evaluating kitchen staff; creating weekly schedules; maintaining communication; ensuring thorough training; overseeing performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and inventory management; liaising with vendors; and overseeing maintenance and safety protocols.
Finance
Accountable for food and labor costs, revenue goals, financial reporting, cost control, stock and inventory management, staffing coverage, and loss prevention.
Essential Functions
Proficiency in English; ability to follow directions; basic math skills; physical ability to lift 50 pounds; extensive walking and standing; adaptability to a fast-paced environment; ownership attitude; flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays; professionalism under stress; adherence to hygiene, grooming, scheduling, and HR policies.
