Job summary

City of Green Bay is seeking a dedicated dance instructor to teach classes, track attendance, and communicate with students and parents. You will coordinate with the Recreation Supervisor on class and recital needs, ensuring safety and a positive experience for all participants.

The role requires hands-on dance and teaching experience, skillful lesson planning, and the ability to work as part of a team while upholding City policies and a professional public image.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have dance and teaching experience.
  • A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of dance techniques and skill development.
  • Considerable skill in teaching techniques. Skill in developing and implementing lesson plans for various age groups and abilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and instruct programs, staff, and participants; maintain a positive public image and attitude; communicate effectively orally and in writing; read and perform basic calculations; work well in a team and meet deadlines.

  • Chooses costumes and coordinates recital costume needs with parents.
  • Responsible for safety and supervision of participants.
  • Takes and records lesson attendance.
  • Communicates with students and parents, maintains a positive public image, and fosters a positive attitude through participation.
  • Works with the Recreation Supervisor regarding class and recital needs.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
