Job summary

Backcountry Outlet is seeking a Seasonal Custom Boot Fitter to join our team in Millcreek, UT. You will perform detailed boot fit assessments, shell checks, and full custom work, delivering expert guidance and an outstanding customer experience.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of boot fitting experience, knowledge of BOA, GripWalk, and other fit technologies, strong mechanical aptitude, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in ski or snowboard boot fitting (2–3 years preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of custom boot systems and fitting tools.
• Familiarity with boot brands and fit technologies (e.g. BOA, GripWalk, Liquid Fit).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A genuine passion for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain culture.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical certifications related to outdoor gear preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform boot fit assessments including stance analysis, shell checks, and liner evaluation.
• Execute full custom boot work: insoles, liners, and footbeds.
• Shell stretching, punching, and grinding.
• Foam injection or vacuum molding systems (e.g. Fischer, Head, Atomic).
• Diagnose and resolve customer fit issues with professionalism.
• Provide honest, expert boot recommendations as needed.
• Maintain organized boot fitting workspace and tools.
• Stay current on product knowledge and boot tech.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience aligned with service standards.
• Other duties as assigned by management and Lead Shop Tech.
