Job summary

Outdoor Discovery Center in Michigan seeks a Seasonal Construction & Playscape Technician to support playscape, buildings and grounds projects from April 1 to November 1, 2026. This full-time seasonal role involves practical construction, landscape work, and operating various tools with oversight from the VP of Operations.

Ideal candidates have landscaping/site work experience, carpentry skills, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, work outside in all weather, and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• 1 year of comparable experience in new construction buildings, grounds, parks/playscapes, equipment maintenance and operations preferred but not required.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Work with Playscape crew to prepare and install projects in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with installing landscapes and hardscapes for Natural Playscape projects.
• Operate power tools and construction equipment as needed.
• All other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations.

Overview:

The Seasonal Construction & Playscape Technician is responsible for supporting the mission of the ODC Network through the execution of construction and improvement projects for playscapes, buildings and grounds and property management. The employee is responsible for supporting the mission of the ODC Network through these activities in addition to being a positive representative of the organization in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Playscape crew to prepare and install projects in a professional and timely manner.
• Work with various power tools to finish logs and assist in installing custom playground equipment.
• Assist with installing all aspects of landscapes and hardscapes for Natural Playscape projects.
• All other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations

Education/Experience/Requirements:

• High school diploma preferred but not required
• One year of comparable experience in new construction buildings, grounds, parks/playscapes, equipment maintenance and operations preferred but not required
• Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to occasionally lift to 75 pounds, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.

Equipment Operated:

• Must be able to operate a tractor, lawn mower, chainsaws, utility vehicles and other construction equipment
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Google, and the operation of general office equipment.
