Job summary

West Valley-Mission Community College District is seeking temporary, hourly grounds maintenance staff to care for campus grounds, landscaped areas, and athletic fields in Saratoga, CA. Work typically Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with the possibility of varied hours based on needs.

The role pays $30.86 per hour, and benefits are not included due to the temporary nature of the position. Two years of gardening experience and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of gardening experience.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Responsibilities

• Mow and edge lawns using hand and power equipment.
• Spray shrubs, trees, weeds, and lawns with appropriate chemicals.
• Sweep or blow parking lots, roadways, and walkways; pick up litter.
• Prune trees and plants; inspect for pest/disease damage; plant and fertilize.
• Use hand tools to work soil and remove weeds in landscaped areas.
• Prepare athletic fields, including line striping and reseeding, as needed.
