Job summary

California State University-Sacramento is seeking a Groundsworker to perform general gardening maintenance across campus facilities. The role includes event support, on-site work, and adherence to safety practices.

The position is full-time, on-site, with hours 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, and may require weekends or irregular shifts. The anticipated hiring range is $3,461–$4,056 per month, with the CSU range up to $4,752 and eligibility for overtime as a non-exempt employee.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or related manual labor.
• Experience with general landscape maintenance, planting, cultivating, and fertilizing.
• Experience maintaining and repairing sprinklers.
• Knowledge of pruning and shrub/tree trimming techniques.
• Knowledge of appropriate safety practices.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintaining a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform general gardening maintenance in campus areas, including parking lots and structures.
• Assist with event support including preparation and clean-up.
• Work without supervision or with lead direction as required, on-site.
• Operate gardening equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support athletic and special event setup and clean-up as needed.
