Job summary

The YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area is seeking an Evening Program Director for Camp Cosby in Alpine, AL this summer. This seasonal role leads evening and themed activities, plans events, mentors staff, and ensures safety, well-being and development of campers and staff under weekly themes.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with the Activities Director, attend staff meetings, and help create a positive camp community while upholding YMCA policies and CPR/First Aid requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior experience with children, preferably in a camp setting.
• Prior leadership experience.
• CPR/First Aid certifications must be obtained.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work with staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be creative and well organized.
• Ability to manage large groups and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned sessions during staff training.
• Support staff and inspire leaders for campers.
• Ensure safety, health, welfare and happiness of staff and campers.
• Attend all staff meetings.
• Assure all activity equipment is properly cared for and maintained.
• Adhere to camp schedules and planned activities.
• Coordinate special events activities, campfires and evening programs.
• Assist with other camp activities as needed.
