Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is seeking an Aquatics Director for Camp Cosby in Alpine, AL. This part-time role focuses on delivering a safe, engaging aquatic program for campers and staff, emphasizing safety, growth and enjoyment while ensuring qualified lifeguard staff and proper equipment.

You will schedule waterski/wakeboard activities, oversee waterfront and pool operations, mentor lifeguards, create lesson plans, and coordinate with the Activities Director to maintain ACA and YMCA policy

Qualifications

• 2 years of prior experience with children preferably in a camp setting.
• Current lifeguard certification.
• Preferably certified boat driver, Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Ability to mentor staff and uphold YMCA policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned aquatic sessions and staff training.
• Oversee waterfront and pool activities including waterski/wakeboard.
• Ensure safety, health and welfare of staff and campers.
• Maintain equipment, schedules and safety logs.
• Mentor lifeguards; ensure policy compliance with ACA and YMCA standards.
• Plan and supervise aquatic programming and special events.
• Coordinate with Activities Director on camp activities and safety.
