Job summary

San Diego State University Research Foundation seeks two Seasonal Restoration Technicians for habitat restoration, rare plant surveys, and other botany-related projects on San Clemente Island, a Naval installation off California's Channel Islands. This full-time, hourly role includes arduous outdoor work, heavy lifting, and remote-site living with provided housing.

You will report to the Crew Lead or Botany Project Manager; schedule is 10 days on-island with 4-day weekends off-island;

Qualifications

• Completion of sufficient lower division coursework.
• Equivalent of one year related experience in lieu of coursework.
• Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, contractors, and Navy personnel.
• Ability to pass a background check to obtain clearance for military base access.

Responsibilities

• Field Work 80%: Monitor rare plant populations.
• Field Work 80%: Monitor vegetation cover.
• Field Work 80%: Maintain and monitor native species outplantings.
• Field Work 80%: Collect native plant propagules.
• Field Work 80%: Propagate native plants.
• Data Entry 15%: Use GPS in the field and GIS software.
• Data Entry 15%: Enter data and maintain databases.
• Other Duties 5%: As assigned.
